Permanency & Adoptive Family Support

Fraser Permanency & Adoptive Family Support is for families navigating the unique emotional, developmental and behavioral challenges connected to out-of-home placements. We partner with:

  • Families with children adopted through private, domestic, international, or special needs adoption programs, or with children under kinship guardianship
  • Families with children currently in foster care or with a history of out-of-home placement
  • Families who are at-risk for out-of-home placement

We bring an adoption-centered therapeutic perspective to our work with children, adolescents, and their caregivers as they navigate a variety of challenges. The families we work with are concerned with the impact of trauma, attachment development, open adoption relationships, grief and loss, transracial family identity, or managing challenging behaviors. Because we believe in strengthening connections with key figures in a child's life, we support foster parents, birth/first parents, adoptive parents, kinship caregivers, siblings or other key family members to support the child.

Common mental health diagnoses may include: post traumatic stress disorder, attachment disorders, anxiety disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, disruptive behavior disorders, mood disorders or trauma-related disorders.

Several of our staff have specialized training for adoption professionals via the Permanency and Adoption Competency Certificate (PACC) and have significant experience navigating trauma and attachment needs.

Fraser Mental Health also provides Preschool Day Treatment, Children’s Mental Health Targeted Case Management, and other services.
