Independent Living

Support for Successfully Engaging in the Community

Fraser operates five Independent Living apartment buildings. The apartments are for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities, who are 18 and over. Residents must be able to live independently with little support, as certified by a doctor or therapist.

Facilities

Fraser was the first organization in the country to offer this type of apartment rental program. The program is possible through a partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The buildings are in Apple Valley, Bloomington, Hopkins, Minnetonka and Richfield. All apartments are one-bedroom and smoke-free.

Staff

A property manager maintains the buildings. Fraser staff mediate tenant issues, help with emergencies, plan activities and assist residents with engaging in the community.

Expense

Residents pay 30% of their adjusted gross income in rent.
