Fraser operates five Independent Living apartment buildings. The apartments are for adults with developmental disabilities, who are over age 18. Residents must be able to live independently with little support, as certified by a doctor or therapist.
Fraser was the first organization in the country to offer this type of apartment rental program. The program is possible through a partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The buildings are in Apple Valley, Bloomington, Hopkins, Minnetonka and Richfield. All apartments are one-bedroom and smoke-free.
A property manager maintains the buildings. Fraser staff mediate tenant issues, help with emergencies, plan activities and assist residents with engaging in the community.
Residents pay 30% of their adjusted gross income in rent.
Fraser does not discriminate on the basis of disability status in the admission or access to, or treatment or employment in, its federally assisted programs and activities.
